Ideal Candidates for Breast Implant Revision Surgery

Women who have undergone breast augmentation and are interested in removing or replacing their breast implants for health or aesthetic reasons may be ideal candidates for breast implant revision surgery. Candidates should have fully healed from their previous breast surgery, be in good overall health, not smoke, have realistic expectations, and a positive outlook regarding the surgery.

It is important to note that breast implants do not necessarily need to be replaced every 10 years, contrary to popular belief. If a patient is free from pain and happy with the appearance of their breasts, there may be no need for breast revision surgery. However, it is recommended to consult with Dr. Chivers if there are any concerns regarding the condition of breast implants.

For those who no longer wish to have breast implants, implant removal without replacement is also an option. Dr. Chivers and his team at the Canadian Plastic Surgery Centre offer personalized care and support to help patients make informed decisions about breast implant revision surgery. With his expertise and experience, Dr. Chivers can help patients achieve natural-looking and long-lasting results that enhance their confidence and overall well-being.

Reasons to Consider Breast Revision Surgery

Breasts are susceptible to natural changes over time, including changes in size, shape, and laxity, even after breast augmentation. Additionally, certain complications may arise following the initial breast augmentation surgery. In such cases, breast revision surgery can be a viable solution.

Addressing Natural Changes

Breasts can change due to various factors such as aging, pregnancy, and extreme weight fluctuations, even after augmentation. Breast revision surgery can address these changes and help patients achieve a more pleasing chest appearance. By modifying implant size, placement, and type, Dr. Chivers can help restore the desired aesthetic look for his patients.

Addressing Post-Op Complications

While many potential complications associated with breast augmentation are uncontrollable, breast revision surgery can address postoperative complications such as implant rupture, capsular contracture, and other issues that may arise. Dr. Chivers' expertise can help restore a pleasing bustline and correct any unsatisfactory results from the initial breast augmentation.

Addressing Unsatisfactory Results

Personal preferences regarding breast aesthetics can change over time, and sometimes the outcome of an initial breast augmentation may be unsatisfactory. In such cases, it is appropriate to consider breast revision surgery. With the modification of implant size, placement, and type, Dr. Chivers can help patients achieve their desired outcome and restore their confidence.

How Much Does Breast Implant Revision Surgery Cost in Toronto?

The cost of breast revision surgery depends on various factors, with the most significant variable being the reason for revision. Postoperative complications such as capsular contracture, double bubble, bottoming out, and ruptured implant, a desired change in implant size, and the type of implant being replaced must all be evaluated prior to determining the cost. Additional factors such as surgeon fees, facility fees, and anesthesia fees also contribute to the overall cost.

During your initial consultation, Dr. Chivers and his team will evaluate your specific needs and provide you with a detailed cost estimate for your procedure. However, to receive a more accurate cost estimate, it is recommended to contact our office and schedule a consultation with Dr. Chivers. He can help you determine the best course of action and provide you with personalized care and support throughout your breast revision journey.

Breast Implant RevisionFrequently Asked Questions

  • How long will the results of breast revision last?

Breast revision surgery is intended to provide long-term results, with the outcomes generally considered to be permanent. However, as with any cosmetic procedure, the natural aging process may eventually affect the breasts' appearance.

Additionally, while the risk of complications is generally low, it is still possible to experience issues with your breast implants over time. Therefore, it is essential to continue monitoring your implants regularly and scheduling check-ups with your board-certified plastic surgeon as needed.

By maintaining a healthy lifestyle and following postoperative instructions, you can help ensure the longevity and optimal appearance of your breasts for years to come.

  • Will there be scarring after breast revision surgery?

One of the significant benefits of breast revision surgery is that in most cases, the same incisions from the original breast augmentation can be used, resulting in minimal additional scarring. However, depending on the revision techniques required, additional incisions may be necessary, or the original incisions may need to be lengthened. Nevertheless, these scars can typically still be concealed with bras and bathing suits.

It is important to note that all surgical scars will fade over time. While it may take up to a year or more for the scars to fully mature and fade, there are several things you can do to minimize scarring, including avoiding sun exposure and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Chivers and his team will work closely with you throughout the entire breast revision process, including scar management, to ensure that your results look as natural and aesthetically pleasing as possible.
