What is a Vaginoplasty?
The vaginal muscles can lose their elasticity as a result of normal aging processes or childbirth resulting in a decrease in sexual gratification and well-being. A vaginoplasty, also known as vaginal tightening or vaginal rejuvenation, tightens the vaginal muscles by removing excess vaginal lining altering the function of the vagina without altering the outer appearance of the genitalia area.
Vaginoplasty should not be confused with a labiaplasty which alters the appearance of the labia, the external visible portion of the female genitalia. Both procedures can be, and often are, performed at the same time or independently, as they are different surgical procedures.
Suitable Candidates
Candidates for vaginoplasty surgery are women who are in overall good health and who are seek to rejuvenate their vaginal function for any of the following reasons:

Procedural Details
Vaginoplasty is a simple surgical procedures offered at the Canadian Plastic Surgery Centre that is performed under general anesthesia. During the procedure, patients are placed in lithotomy position and excess vaginal lining is incised to exposed the vaginal muscular lining. The thinned or separated vaginal muscles are suture together to create a tighter core and the excess vaginal lining wall is excised and the incisions are closed.

Recovery
After the surgical procedure, you should expect to be able to return to work in 3-5 days. You will experience moderate pain and bruising during this time. Light activities can be started about 2-3 weeks after your surgery and strenuous physical activity and/or sexual intercourse should not be resumed until 6 weeks after surgery.

Ice packs or cold packs covered with a gentle cloth should be applied to the area every hour for the first 48-72 hrs after your surgery

Over-the-counter or prescription pain medications can be taken for pain control

You can shower the day following your surgery and should gently wash the wounds with soap and water.

You should begin Eposom Salt Sitx baths to help keep the surgical area clean

You should refrain from vigorous activity for about 2-3 weeks after your surgery.

You should wear loose fitting clothes to prevent an unnecessary pressure or damage to the surgical incisions.
